Support Types available in an NDIS plan

You can obtain funds from the NDIS in three ways. These are the following: Core, Capital, and Capacity Building. All of the participants’ supports are further classified into support categories. This ensures easier access to all participants.

Simplifying the supports in your plan

The NDIS funding for you may include the following, depending on your goals:

  • Core funding is provided to meet functional assistance needs for daily living as well as participation in community support and activities.
  • Capital funding can be used to purchase assets such as equipment, upgrades, or technology. It also includes funds for specialised disability housing.
  • Capacity Building promotes skill development, learning, access to jobs, capacity building, overall health improvement and support coordination.

Getting the specific support funded

There may be times when your NDIS plan does not adequately reflect the key aspects of your plan. In this circumstance, the participant may feel their plan is not suitable for them.

You can request a review within 90 days after obtaining your plan.

Your new NDIS plan

The participant’s plan becomes active on the date of approval. This date will be seen on the plan’s home page. The participant should ideally start utilising the NDIS plan as soon as it is received. The supports continue even if you are dissatisfied or looking for some changes in its provisions.

It is advised to continue in this manner because all present funding will be terminated once the NDIS plan is approved.

Managing your plan

Once your NDIS plan is approved, it goes into effect automatically. It also means that it is vital to manage your funds and have your support’s properly organised.
